How do I test my pool water and use pH Plus if the pH is too low?

The answer

What to know.

To test the pH level of your pool water:

  1. Use a reliable pool test kit, such as test strips or liquid reagents.
  2. Collect a sample of water from elbow depth.
  3. Follow the test kit's instructions to measure the pH level.

If the pH is below the ideal range (7.2–7.6 for pools or 7.2–7.8 for spas):

  1. Calculate the required amount of pH Up based on the pool or spa size.
  2. Add the pH Up evenly across the pool or spa while the pump is running.
  3. Retest the water after a few hours and adjust if necessary.

When using pH Plus:

  • Always wear protective gloves and goggles.
  • Follow the manufacturer's instructions carefully.
  • Add chemicals gradually to avoid overshooting the desired pH level.
