The Best Robotic Pool Cleaners for Pollen: Dolphin Picks
Not all robotic pool cleaners are built the same. These are the machines we'd put in a pool for Pollen — chosen for filtration, coverage, and reliability, and every one is a genuine Dolphin.
The term "robotic pool cleaner" covers everything from bargain floor-only vacuums to commercial-grade machines. When you're shopping for Pollen, the difference between the wrong robot and the right one is filtration, coverage, and build quality — three areas where Dolphin robots by Maytronics consistently lead.
Pollen is one of the finest nuisances a pool faces — it forms a yellow film on the surface and a dusty layer on the floor, and it passes right through ordinary filters. Only ultra-fine filtration truly captures it.
What to look for in a robotic pool cleaner for Pollen
Pollen particles are tiny, so filter fineness is everything. Dolphin NanoFilters trap pollen that standard cartridges recirculate. Because pollen floats before it settles, a model that also cleans the waterline — or a surface skimmer running alongside your robot — keeps the yellow film off the top of the water.
- Ultra-fine NanoFilters
- Waterline cleaning for the pollen film
- Thorough floor coverage
- Optional surface skimming

Frequently asked questions
Can a pool robot remove pollen?
Yes, but only with a fine enough filter. Standard cartridges let pollen pass through; Dolphin NanoFilters capture it. Adding a surface skimmer helps clear the floating film.
Why does pollen leave a film on my water?
Pollen is light and floats before sinking. Cleaning the waterline and skimming the surface — plus fine filtration — is what removes the film.
How often should I run the robot during pollen season?
During heavy spring pollen, daily short cycles keep the water clear. Rinse the NanoFilters between runs.
