Support answer · Alkalinity
How do I add alkalinity increaser, how much should I use, and how long should I wait to swim?
What to know.
- Test your pool water
- Follow the product dosage instructions
- Spread the product evenly over the deepest part of the pool
- Run the pump for at least 4 hours
- Retest the water before making additional adjustments
A common guideline is:
- 1.5 lbs per 10,000 gallons raises alkalinity by approximately 10 ppm
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for best results.
Typically, you can swim once the product has fully circulated, usually after about 4 hours of pump operation.
