The Best Robotic Pool Cleaners for Mud: Dolphin Picks
Not all robotic pool cleaners are built the same. These are the machines we'd put in a pool for Mud — chosen for filtration, coverage, and reliability, and every one is a genuine Dolphin.
The term "robotic pool cleaner" covers everything from bargain floor-only vacuums to commercial-grade machines. When you're shopping for Mud, the difference between the wrong robot and the right one is filtration, coverage, and build quality — three areas where Dolphin robots by Maytronics consistently lead.
Mud washes in after storms and runoff, coating the floor in a slick layer of fine sediment. It's heavy where it piles up and fine where it disperses, so it demands both power and filter fineness.
What to look for in a robotic pool cleaner for Mud
Mud calls for strong suction to lift the sediment and a fine filter to keep the smallest particles from washing back out. A large bottom-load bin holds the volume that a muddy pool produces, and thorough floor coverage ensures the robot works the whole basin, not just the open center.
- Strong suction to lift sediment
- Fine / Nano filtration
- Large-capacity debris canister
- Complete floor coverage

Frequently asked questions
Can a robotic pool cleaner clean up mud after a storm?
Yes. A robot with strong suction and fine filtration vacuums the mud layer off the floor. Run it a second time with a rinsed filter if the pool was heavily muddied.
Why does mud keep clouding the water?
Fine sediment slips through coarse filters. NanoFilters capture it so the water clears instead of staying murky.
Should I let the mud settle first?
Yes — let sediment settle to the floor, then run the robot so it can vacuum it up rather than chasing suspended particles.
