Cordless Robotic Pool Cleaners: No Cable, No Power Supply, No Hassle

A cordless pool cleaner runs on a built-in lithium-ion battery. Charge it, drop it in, press start and lift it out by the handle when the cycle ends. These are the cordless Dolphins by Maytronics: the Liberty, which we ship free, and the EON, which cleans steps and ledges.

Why Go Cordless

Every corded robot asks the same two things of you: route a floating cable across the deck and find a spot for the power supply. A cordless robotic pool cleaner asks for neither. There is nothing to tangle, nothing to trip over and nothing plugged in by the water. The trade is a battery that needs charging between cycles, which is why runtime per charge is the first spec to compare.

What to look for in a cordless pool cleaner

Cordless robots vary more than corded ones. Some clean the floor only; the Dolphin Liberty climbs the walls and the EON adds the waterline, steps, corners and sun ledges. Runtime ranges from one cycle per charge to a week of them. Look for inductive charging with no exposed pins to corrode, a pickup mode that brings the robot to the wall, and a warranty that covers the battery.

  • Runtime per charge: one 1.5 hr cycle (Liberty 200) to a week of cycles (Liberty 300)
  • Coverage: floor and walls at least; steps and ledges on the EON
  • Magnetic-Connect inductive charging, no pins to corrode
  • Click-Up™ or app pickup so you never fish for the robot
  • A 2-year warranty on the Liberty, sold by an authorized dealer

How a cordless Dolphin works

Dolphin Liberty 200 carried to the pool by its handle, no cable attached
No Cable

Charge it, drop it in, press start.

The Liberty runs on a built-in lithium-ion battery with two motors, an active brush and CleverClean™ navigation. At 17.86 lb it is one of the lightest Dolphins: carry it to the pool by the handle, drop it in and it scrubs the floor and climbs the walls of in-ground and above-ground pools up to 50 ft on a 1.5-hour cycle.

Magnetic-Connect Charging

Snap on, charge, swim.

The inductive charger snaps onto the back of the robot magnetically: no exposed pins to corrode and no towelling the robot dry first. A full charge takes up to about 6 hours, so most owners charge overnight in a shaded spot. When the cycle ends or the battery runs low, the Liberty parks itself at the wall.

Dolphin Liberty 200 ›

Runtime

One cycle per charge, or a week of them.

The Liberty 200 runs one 1.5-hour cycle per charge with Standard and Quick Clean modes. The Liberty 300 carries a bigger battery for up to a week of cycles, adds an Eco mode and Click-Up™ pickup: shake the rattle and the robot surfaces at the nearest wall.

Steps, Ledges and Corners

The EON cleans where others cannot.

The cordless Dolphin EON adds the parts of the pool that collect the most dirt: steps, benches, corners, tanning ledges and safety ledges as shallow as 8 inches, with SmartMap™ navigation and Wi-Fi scheduling through the Maytronics One app. The EON 120D runs up to 4.5 hours per charge with DebrisLock™ self-cleaning backwash filtration.

Prefer corded? Our flagships: ProLine™ and Max-Series™.

Cordless convenience comes with charging, floor-and-wall coverage on the Liberty and a 1-year warranty on the Amazon EON editions. The corded ProLine™ and Max-Series™ robots below run on a weekly timer all season with commercial-grade motors, NanoFilters™ and up to a 3-year warranty, and every one ships free.

Cordless vs corded: an honest take

Buy cordless if the cable is the thing that has kept you from using a robot: a deck with no outlet nearby, a long walk from the power supply to the water, a layout where a floating cable snags on steps or a ladder. The Liberty and EON remove that problem completely.

Buy corded if you want the robot to run itself on a schedule all season without a charge in between, if the waterline is your biggest headache, or if you want the finest filtration and the longest warranty. The corded Dolphins start lower in price and go further up in capability. Many owners end up with one of each: a corded flagship on a timer and a cordless robot for a spa or a second pool.

What cordless robots do not do (yet)

The Liberty 200 and 300 clean the floor and walls, not the waterline, and have no weekly timer: you press start each time. The EON reaches the waterline, steps and ledges and schedules from the app, but the Amazon Nautilus EON editions carry a 1-year warranty against 2 years on the Liberty and up to 3 on the ProLine™. None of the cordless Dolphins use NanoFilters™; the EON 120D’s DebrisLock™ backwash is the finest cordless filtration Dolphin makes.

Battery care and runtime tips

Charge in a shaded spot, not in direct sun on a hot deck. Run a full cycle rather than many short ones. Store the robot around half charge over winter and top it up every couple of months. A lithium-ion battery treated this way stays healthy season after season, and the Liberty’s battery is replaceable if it ever needs it.

Questions & Answers

Cordless: frequently asked questions

What is the best cordless robotic pool cleaner?

For most pools we recommend the Dolphin Liberty 200: floor and wall cleaning on pools up to 50 ft, Magnetic-Connect inductive charging, a 2-year warranty and free shipping. Choose the Liberty 300 for a week of cycles per charge, or the EON 120D if you want steps, ledges and the waterline cleaned too.

How long does a cordless pool cleaner battery last?

Per charge: one 1.5-hour cycle on the Liberty 200, up to a week of cycles on the Liberty 300, up to 2.5 hours on the EON 100 and up to 4.5 hours on the EON 120D. Over its life, a lithium-ion battery charged in the shade and stored around half charge over winter lasts for seasons, and the Liberty's is replaceable.

Do cordless pool robots climb walls?

The Dolphin Liberty and EON do. The Liberty scrubs the floor and climbs the walls; the EON adds the waterline, steps, corners and sun ledges. Many other cordless cleaners on the market are floor-only, so check the coverage spec before you buy.

How long does a cordless pool robot take to charge?

A full charge on the Liberty takes up to about 6 hours through its Magnetic-Connect inductive charger, so most owners charge overnight and run the next day. Three LEDs show the battery level at a glance.

Does Dolphin make a cordless pool cleaner?

Yes. The Dolphin Liberty 200 and Liberty 300 and the Dolphin EON 100 and EON 120D are cordless. The Liberty 200 is sold here with free shipping; the others are sold through Amazon and Dolphin dealers.

Are cordless robotic pool cleaners worth it?

If the cable is what has stopped you from using a robot, yes. If you want set-and-forget scheduling, waterline cleaning, NanoFilter filtration and the longest warranty, a corded Dolphin does more for less money.

Can I leave a pool robot in the pool?

You can leave a corded Dolphin in the water between cycles, but Maytronics recommends removing it when it is not cleaning to extend the life of the cable, brushes and seals and to keep it out of chemical shock treatments. Cordless robots come out to charge anyway; most owners lift them by the handle after each cycle.

Cut the Cord

Charge it. Drop it in. Done.

The Dolphin Liberty 200 ships free with a 2-year warranty. Compare the corded lineup if a weekly timer, the waterline or NanoFilters™ matter more to you.
